Research Administrator Vacancy

An experienced and versatile research administrator is sought to work on a new 3 year ESRC/EPSRC project funded under the Technology Enhanced Learning programme of the Teaching and Learning Research Programme (http://www.tlrp.org). They will be a member of ‘Ensemble: Semantic Technologies for the Enhancement of Case Based Learning’, an international and interdisciplinary project led from the Centre for Applied Research in Education Technologies (CARET) at the University of Cambridge, where this post will be based.

The role of the project research administrator is to assist the Project Director in the day to day running of the project through organization of events, management of project communications (including the project website, newsletters, and research briefings); and maintaining oversight of data collection.

Ensemble Pilot Projects

A team of researchers, staff and students will begin work developing pilots and ‘demonstrators’ of Semantic Web technologies, including the SIMILE toolkit, to a range of teaching and learning applications as part of the run-up to the launch of the Ensemble project. Three UROP (Undergraduate Research Opportunities Programme) students will work with staff at the Centre for Applied Research into Educational Technologies (CARET) in Cambridge during the summer to develop applications in Plant Sciences, Earth Sciences, Local History and in Education and Learning Support. Their work will appear on this website over the next few months.

Vacancies for Two Research Associates to work on ESRC/EPSRC Research Project

The “Ensemble: Semantic Technologies for the Enhancement of Case Based Learning” project is seeking to appoint three research associates from October 2008. The job description for two of these, who will have a background in education or social science, is on the project website. A further vacancy, for a research associate with a background in Computer Science, will be advertised in the next few days.

This project, led from the Centre for Applied Research in Educational Technologies at Cambridge, will involve researching and developing the emerging ‘Educational Semantic Web’ or ‘Educational Web 3.0′ across a range of settings and disciplines in Higher Education.
